What trail are we running. I am going to take off the 1" body lift and will be removing the tire rack for a while So I will not have a trail spare, but with the comp claws and bead locks who need one.

Ever heard of Jim Croce?

Don't tug on Superman's cape, don't spit into the wind, don't pull the mask of the ole' Long Ranger and don't taunt the rock Gods....

You will now ruin 4 tires.

We're going to run Sledge.

I vaguely remember someone else who said something like that recently, and ended up running his spare and several of the groups spares as well.

You best be recanting what you said

Anyone remember our dear friend from AZ that came to run the hammers with us on Iroc's (and no spare)? The first day he took every opportunity to bag on the MTR's and brag about how great his Irocs were working (all in good fun of course).

By the third day he was running the spare MTR's from all the guys at camp. Different rim at each corner, was quite a site

We sure had fun with him on that third day

My personal all time favorite rock god story is that Nimrod that figured he would run Outer Limits, get back to camp early and drive home that night. Just to seal the deal, before the run, he packed up his tent and all camping stuff to be ready for a quick getaway after the run.

The rock gods had fun that day

After the above Nimrod finished getting dragged UP Outer Limits on the end of Blaine?s strap, he had to retrieve a truck and trailer from camp to get the pieces of battered Jeep back to camp.

Then, in the dark, re-set up his tent and camp

What an idiot

Couple of things:

#1 Anyone have or know someone with a 37" spare for a 15" wheel? I have an undersized spare at the moment. A new 35" BFG mud that I would happily trade or I can just buy the 37" if anyone has one. These Rock God stories are creepin' me out!

#2 Is everyone camping together? I assume so because of the wood deal. Where is the campsite? The 'regular spot'? Got GPS?

#3 Who's going to be out there early Friday?

No spares here.

The camp will be the usual place and I don't care where you camp. If you plan on sitting around the fire, bring wood. If you don't, build your own fire where ever you like.

We will be there Thursday afternoon so we can pre-run the trail on Friday to see just how much abuse we're in for.

Passenger needs some supplies

Scott Findley is flying in from Kentucky to ride with us.

Can I get a show of hands of people who have an extra tent and heater that he can borrow? He can pack his own, but is seems lame to bring one from Kentucky.

I've got a warm sleeping bag that I'll bring for him.

He's riding with Matt.

Thanks guys/gals.

Jeff

Jeff,

I have a tent he can borrow, but no mattress as mine was crap and I had to return it, and no heater cuz I haven't found one yet. I don't mind buying a heater and lending it out for that weekend if someone can tell me where to find a decent one.

Well I have been working on the jeep to get it done for the trip. New leaf springs, 4340 axles and super u joints. New t case/ oil pan skid. Taking off the 1" body lift also. I'm lowering the jeep 4". Remover the tire rack too. Its just way too tall. Hope to get it all finished by then.

Speaking of tent heaters, I got a 2nd+ degree burn on my leg from my Jon-E handwarmer when I fell asleep with it inside my sleeping bag 2 weeks ago at Superstition Mountain. I will NOT do that again.

So just what is a good safe tent heater to look for? I don't want to suffocate in my tent from carbon monoxide or lack of 02, so a few good recommendations would be great. And do they really help all that much since there's no real insulation to speak of in a tent?

Edit: I just noticed Erik's mention of a Coleman Black Cat heater that uses the same type propane canister as my lantern. That looks like a good one but can I assume that nearly any propane heater would also be a good choice?

Talking

Those "buddy" heaters seem to be pretty nice, AND they have an 02 sensor on them if it gets low they shut off.

I have a pretty big (10x10) Napier Suv tent that I AM bringing..

You could always come over and spoon with me...

Yes. Buy a CO2/Fire alarm and put it in your tent just in case things turn brown...

Thanks, I'll look around for one of those. You said C02, did you mean carbon monoxide? Is there some small battery operated version made for camping use? I looked around eBay and didn't find anything. Thanks Jeff.

Edit: I just bought Coleman's newer version of the Black Cat called ProCat http://www.coleman.com/coleman/colem...ategoryid=3000 on eBay for $50. It has a small 2 D-cell powered fan that will circulate the heat a little better. Coleman says it's safe for use in a tent because there's no flame. It'll be nice to not be as cold as I was last trip out.

I've got a tent and a heater if needed. You are welcome to it. I can give it to Erik to take out.
