New tire rules for competition???

I just heard that the forces that be are considering requiring rock crawling competitors to use only tire compounds that are also available to the general public . This would mean no extra sticky, competition only compounds. I think I like what this may lead too.

The only rule that works is that there are no rules that can't be circumvented.

That rule is currently in effect in many sanctioned events and sticky compound non DOT tires are still run by the top competitors.

Supposedly the GP has access to the tires but I've never seen it.
