DIY homelink
1) Buy homelink visors from ebay as cheap as you can get them from any car you like.
eBay auction 2) Tear them apart, and remove the Homelink module. 3) Cut small opening in headliner / dash panel / or opt to rewire the buttons and creatively locate them. 4) Attach +12V (black) and GND (brown) wires to nearby power source (overhead lamp). 5) Train it using your garage door opener(s) (see www.homelink.com). 6) Admire your $25 (maybe less) fluff mod. 7) (optional) Deprogram your old battery powered garage door openers and sell them on ebay for a profit. |

So, besides a garage door opener, what does this gain you?
Couldn't you have just taken the guts of the garage door opener and hot glued them inside the dash (or that dome light) with just a button sticking out? Edit-I looked at the homelink page...I get it a little more now |

I can think of a few things gained, but this is after all (as I said) just fluff...
Reprogrammable universal control for three different garage doors (makes/models/etc), home lighting, etc. No more dead batteries in the openers. No more keeping or needing multiple openers. Cheaper than buying another hand-held battery powered remote. Edit - Ok |
