Cool!! Did you run into Jason out there? IIRC he was planning on going.

I took a trip up north close to Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side this weekend - the area is called Walker River. LOTS of mines & trails to explore!

i was out there too. it was a great time.
pumpkin eater was a nice run. you had to be in the front though, or it was miserable. luckily i was in the front 4. i think there were about 8 rigs of 30 that lined up that made it.
the following day we ran doran/odessa. that was fun too. i always enjoy that trail.

Afton was very cool scenery wise and very hot weather wise. I didn't see any XJ's besides the one I brought with me though but then we were spending alot of time hunting for shade in the late afternoon and were quite a ways down the wash under a big cottonwood tree. Did I say it was hot Sorry I missed seeing you guys Michael - would have been nice running into some folks I know.

I need to download the pix and get them hosted.

What was Doran like? I had just a plain miserable time getting up the first part of Doran the last time I was there. Those trails are gorgeous though, the tall narrow red rock canyons they run through are pretty spectacular.

it is pretty much the same as it has been for a year or so. it is just the big rocks. most of the filler has been cleared out.
it is a hit or miss. luckily my spotter kept me on line, and the mt/r's stuck.
i'll get some pics up.

Man it must be bad. I was in the YJ with the top rack on Devils Loop. You even commented on my ReelJeeps sticker.

We were out there with Erik and Jason. Is that who you mean? Dark green YJ, two sons, from Lakewood?

Yeah, that's me in the pics spotting! I figured I better do it right since my 18 year old daughter was riding shot-gun

The canyons are gorgeous. Some friggin' jeeper (named Nailer341) pulled a bunch of big rocks down on to the trail in both canyons and they are doozies. A bump and a clunk and damn, I've got a tweaked exhaust again!!

We had a ball. Weekend before was John Bull, then Doran and Odessa, in the newly built TJ. Sure like that ARB in my new 44.

I had decided not to go over those last few rocks but I got wedged in on the right trying to go around them. Erik "go over these rocks. I think you'll have fun." Ok was my answer. Came down on the r/r bumper mount just like everyone else. I think I heard Erik laughing as he watches. No damage but good times were had.
The Jeep worked flawlessly. I was a little paranoid but Saturday I took it easy and listen to all the new noises. I inspected things regularly and everything is just fine.

Jason:

Hi Jason,
Cool to see you online.
BTW, your tickie was a loser! Don't feel bad, ours were too. And Drew and Tracy decided to pack it in so they left us theirs. Not a single raffle prize!

It got cold in that tent too. We ended up going back to the camp for pants and sweatshirts.

D'oh! Yes I can remember faces but unless I meet someone a few times I forget, sorry. I know now that you mentioned it.

Yah we only went down to the last railroad bridge and ran into some other Jeepers who told me about Spooky Canyon which we hadn't seen before so we went back and checked it out. It was cool and cool in the dark part. Then after we were done we changed out a water pump that decided to start leaking.

Were you one of the ones I was able to help up the waterfall ? Very few of the rigs made it unassisted, it was that 4 tire climb all at the same time.

Yes, I was the one in it, my normal spotter was the rock thrower
