Transfer case shifing problems

I have a problem with shifting my T-case into $wd hi going more than 10 mph. This started once I installed my long arm kit and shifter bracket from AA. I have adjusted every which way that I can think of. I am just looking for some fresh ideas. Any help is appreciated. Since the snow season seems to be over it isn't such a big deal, but I would still like to fix it.

Hi Silvertj,

I don't know if this is your problem or not. But might be worth checking out.

The AA bracket you are talking about....... , is that the T/Case Shifter bracket?

If so, check the bracket for flexing or "shifting about" when moving the T/Case Lever.

Check the size of the holes in the bracket used to mount on the studs.

I have seen this problem three times with these AA brackets.

If the holes are to large the entire bracket slides or shifts just a bit from the torque of the T/Case shifter handle. Just enough to cause things to bind up and no amount of adjustment seems to be in the range to get it to work.

I have seen this on three different AA T/Case brackets. Two where sent back for replacements. On the third the holes were welded closed and re-drilled.

If you lay under your Jeep (Safely) have someone shift the T/Case and see if you can determine any movement in the AA bracket.

Make sure it is torqued correctly and Please do not over tighten as you will strip the studs out.

Just a thought for you to check on.

Hope this helps you out.

Frank

PS. Many Many years ago I lived up near you, Byram Township, right near Waterloo Village. This was before Interstate 80 was opened.
