New 'GetBent!' 4x4 DVD Series

New 'GetBent!' DVD Series Features
Authentic Wheelin' Adventures

Dallas, TX January 30, 2006 -- A brand-new four wheelin'
DVD series titled 'GetBent!' featuring a level of realism rarely
seen in 4x4 videos has been announced by American Bootstrap
Productions, Inc. Designed to entertain wheelin' enthusiasts of
all kinds, 'GetBent!' features a broad spectrum of recreational
4x4 vehicles in popular settings with the authentic sounds of
real wheelin' adventures.

The 'GetBent!' series is filmed in true anamorphic widescreen
enhanced for today's 16:9 televisions, highlighting the panoramic
view of the great outdoors, coupled with Dolby Digital Pro
encoded audio showcasing the authentic crunching and scraping
sounds of real wheelin' instead of the all too common
heavy-music-laden soundtrack. Duane Smith (Producer/Director)
stated, "As wheelin' enthusiasts ourselves, we wanted to create a
video series showing what it's really like out on the trails, and
to do it in a positive, professional manner."

The family-friendly series begins with 'GetBent! - Episode One'
focusing on the popular "Katemcy Rocks" off-road park in central
Texas, which is known for the intense traction of its granite
slickrock terrain. Future episodes will feature other popular
four wheeling destinations all across the United States.

Individual episodes are available for $19.95 each, or at a
special price of $39.95 for a three episode subscription.

I could hear some techno-music beat, but no video. I am sure it's my computer's fault, as it is probably missing a codec or something.

Edit: I just noticed the alternative version for PC. That one works.

Looks very cinema-like. Thanks for sharing.

FWIW, I don't care for the music. I like wheelin' videos with a running commentary from someone that knows the rigs, the people, and the trail.

Other than that, looks like there were some nice rigs in the video.

music

TObject - thanks, I appreciate the kind words!

Stu - The music is just in the trailer. The actual video is music-free for the most part; when there is music, it's used very sparingly *between* scenes, and for only about 20 seconds or so. The rest of the time, it's just the REAL sounds of wheelin'...all the crunching, banging, clanging, scraping, grinding, and talking that we hear out on the trails. There is not, however, any narration. We just let nature be nature.

This isn't a 'Rednecks gone Wild' style video; instead, we wanted to make something that we wouldn't be embarrased to show our family/friends/neighbors. So you won't find any beer drinking or cussing, and it's not a throttle-happy 'power' type of video. It's pretty much real people in all kinds of rigs CRAWLING over some really fantastic terrain. I'd gladly hand it to anyone on the street and say, "this is what we really do"....and that's not something I can say about most 4x4 videos.

Sounds good.....glad to hear there isn't any of those "here, hold my beer" segments. We certainly don't need that kind of publicity!

I agree 100%. I've been fighting for the motorized recreational land use cause far too long to portray us in a negative manner.

'GetBent!' is a POSITIVE and PROFESSIONAL representation of our recreation.

I like what I saw on the trailer, I'll fork out $20 for the first one. Any idea where the future episodes will be filmed?

Yes we do have it planned out, to a cartain degree. In fact, we're in the middle of shooting #2 right now; it's going to be covering the three (3) OHV parks in and around Clayton, Ok including the famous "3-stage trail" and of course the hardcore areas at "Green Acres", as well as some of the long scenic trails.

#3 is tentatively going to be MOAB; we're definately going out to EJS to shoot (already have our lodging reserved), but we're also planning at least one week-long trip out there, probably in the september time frame. The EJS footage will probably be the more 'hardcore' stuff, and will be more obstacle-based, while the week-long trip is intended for us to be able to capture the more scenic parts; you know--the grand panoramas of the sky and rock, the granduer of the back country, and the beauty of all that wonderour red slickrock.

#4 is going to be out east. We don't have a specific location picked out yet (and we won't until #2 is finished and in-the-can) but that's okay, because it'll be this time next year before we're working on that episode.

Beyond that, we plan to hit places all across the country. Definately wanna hit Johnson Valley, and the Pacific Northwest, and something REALLY way out in the far North East. We're just gonna spread it around as much as possible to cover as much ground in the best way we can.

Well no...not unless it's his nickname or something. I certainly don't recall anyone by that name in the stack of Release Forms.

Sorry!

No problem.....It's just that one of the Bronco's looked similar to an Bronco that a old co-workers owned. I don't know if he still has it.

Today, he is known as James Duff. Jim and I worked together for the late Mickey Thompson, some years ago.

This is Jims website. He's the Bronco guy you see in alot of off-road magazine advertisements etc.

Holy Cow, "the" James Duff!

No, I would certainly have known if he were in there! LOL! He would have been a big celebrity at that particular even when the Broncos were filmed.

Hi Bruce.

I'm not sure if Jim had a shop in SF.

When I first met Jim face to face (1979), he was going by the name of Jim Duffy. Unfortunetly, Jim Duffy Enterprises had a BAD fire at his Gardena location. His insurance company believed it was arson and were giving Jim an EXTREAMELY hard time over the whole ordeal. He basically lost everything.

So much so - that Jim decided to fold that business and sell pretty much everything that was salvageable to Mickey Thompson Products. I helped Jim move truckload after truckload of burnt off-road products to Mickey's shop in Placentia, near 17th St, which was where I was working at the time. I was incharge of trying to salvage as much as I could.

Jim and I worked side by side for M/T Products in the early '80's.

The first episode of the new 'GetBent!' DVD series is now in our hands -- and btw, that picture just shows the one box of DVDs we actually opened up; we've got 10x that many in total. Also, the t-shirts are here as well, are they are the 'tagless' kind; no more annoying tag to stick you in the back of the neck!

SEE THE DVDs & T-SHIRTS HERE:

ORDER THE DVD HERE:
http://www.getbent4x4.com/main_orders.html

For all the folks who pre-ordered: those orders have been packaged and went out in the mail yesterday. We stayed up until 3:30am the first night/morning packing all the preorders and getting them ready to ship, instead of doing it over two days as originally planned--we may be tired now, but at least you know just how committed we really are!

So if you've already ordered, it's on the way!

And if you haven't ordered, PLEASE do it now!

Thanks,

Duane Smith
