Bahahahahaaa. Maybe they should have asked us Jeep owners first

Taxpayers foot bill for $100,000 jeep Wed Jan 4, 7:04 AM ET

USA TODAY's story says "The Marine Corps is paying $100,000 apiece for a revamped Vietnam-era jeep." Wrong! We are paying $100,000 for their jeeps ("Corps pays $100K for retooled jeep," News, Thursday).

Ike warned us of the military-industrial complex that was taking over the country. Well, it did.

In 1941, the Army paid Willys-Overland about $740 for each jeep in the first production contract. I drove a jeep. They were unbeatable.

The Corps' $100,000 jeep "would be barred from service in Iraq except as a utility vehicle that doesn't leave the security of a base." I'll bet that Chrysler could sell them three of those for $100,000 with A/C, cruise control and full power. And you'd get to choose your colors.
