I had one of those early mid-life crisis things....took 8 months off to try to figure out what I want to do with my life.

I still haven't gotten my Jeep running yet and have not had a chance to touch it for quite a while. lots to be done yet but its only busy work like wiring, brakes, roll cage and painting.

I'll get there one of these days...I'm almost tempted to pay someone to finish it

Never heard of the extra 60 hours over national cert... are you talking for EMT-P? EMT-P would be something cool to get into, but it's 1000 hours on your own dime (here in NJ) and you don't get paid until after you become certified so it's very time consuming. Would someone have paid for you to take the class???

It's probably the same way out that way, I think it's pretty standard around the country.
May be. I was looking into it for my bro when he got his national cert. He needed 60 hours more to work in Cali. He managed to find a job in Ohio, so I didn't look into it much more. It's been nearly three years since I looked that up, so my memory may be faded a bit about it.

You'd have to check with NR about that, I'm not sure. CEs issued by an "approved" CE provider (a provider that has been issued a CE provider number by a local EMS agency or the state) are valid anywhere in our state...just not sure what NR has to say about it.

Current a techno-geek for a video networking company, and I was just accepted into LVMPD Search and Rescue school. So, I will be getting my EMT-B within a year (figured I could stay on topic and relate to the recent thread hijacking at the same time).

Hey Mark, I have a buddy working in Loveland. He is working in the school district on the video system. I heard he just bought a house up there, so I might have to come visit him. You guys have any good snowboarding out that way?

I don't ski or board so I'm the wrong person to ask for info. Go ask on www.colorado4x4.org and I'm sure folks will chime in. Most of the ski areas are about 2 hours from here except for Eldora, which is only an hour or so. You can always go snow-bashing around here in the jeep though

later,
mark
