this is me relearning how to weld (sorta)
hung my ramps (and some boogers) under my trailer today. i needed to get them as high as possible for clearance, which is why i didnt have the builder put their version on. it would have hung down almost 4" lower than mine.
i also shortened my ramps to 41" so they would stow end-to-end. i can get on and off my trailer without ramps, but they do make it easier. heres some pics of how it went: i need to read up on overhead welding some more i guess. everything went together well and it should work okay. if i think of something better i might do it down the road. got a two-fer on steel today so theres plenty to fix my mistakes |

Slick
Overhead and vertical Mig require slightly different settings than what it says inside your welder.....or wherever you have that chart. Sometimes I cheat. More often than not I have better luck with out of position work using a dual shield wire. At least on the thicker stuff anyway. Why? Because the flux is somehow faster than the molten steel, rises to the top, and partially solidifies to help keep the liquified steel in place better. Crazy but true. Let me know what size wire you're running and I'll get you some better settings than what you've got for overhead and vertical. However, it will be in Volts and IPM, not voltage tap C and 45 on the wirespeed.

Tim
.030 S-6 mig wire running 75/25 @ 25 CFH..... 60a 14v (150 IPM) 100a 15v (220 IPM) Optimum setting 140a 16v (350 IPM) Use the low side as a starting point for overhead and vertical.
