NP231 lubricant

I'll be dropping the cross member soon to replace the transmission pan. While the cross member is out it will be a good idea to drain and refill the transfer case as well. I have excess of Chrysler ATF, so I was wondering if it is ok to use that in the transfer case instead of regular ATF (Dextron/Mercon). The transfer case takes less than two quarts.

Since the case is chain driven, I think that variations in friction characteristics don't matter, what's important is that the fluid would resist foaming well, and any ATF should be good for that.

Anyway if anyone heard of any problems using Chrysler Type 7176; ATF+3; ATF+4; and the kind, in the transfer case, let me know.

I ran redline ATF in my 242 for almost a year and sprung a small leak @ the SYE shaft seal. I put the Chrysler ATF in there and no more leaks
